Most cards have a sphere level of 1 (i.e. A card’s sphere level is the number of heroes of that sphere you need in your deck in order to use that card. This is due to the concept of sphere level. This leads to another matter: how many spheres should your deck use? You may be tempted to build a deck using heroes from three different spheres, but while we have ruled out using three heroes of the same sphere, there is a case to be made for using two heroes from one sphere and one hero from a sphere on the opposite end of the spectrum. This will allow your deck enough flexibility to deal with any challenge that Sauron throws at you. It is thus recommended that your deck include spheres from both sides of the spectrum. Here we see that the Lore and Spirit spheres fare much better than the Tactics and Leadership spheres. These have to do with your deck’s ability to get access to more cards, keep its units alive, and buy itself more time to complete objectives. Next we have the Card Draw, Healing, and Threat Reduction categories. Both the Tactics and Leadership spheres excel in them while the Lore and Spirit spheres struggle. These three keywords are the most important keywords for dealing with Sauron’s minions and villains. The Ranged, Block, and Guard headings refer to how prevalent those keywords are in each sphere’s cards. The Lore sphere is a jack-of-all-trades and has good cards in all categories. There are some other things to note about each sphere, and they are summarized in the following table:įrom this table, we see that the Tactics sphere and Leadership spheres like to rely on their attachment and ally cards respectively while the Spirit sphere likes to rely on its event cards more. Thus, while a deck with three Tactics heroes may obliterate Sauron’s minions with little challenge, it may feel like it just ran into a brick wall when suddenly it has to achieve a large objective. This information is very important to know as what it tells you is that a deck that lies too much on one end of the spectrum will be very weak to challenges on the other end of the spectrum. ![]() Conversely, Spirit cards are generally very good at dealing with hazards, achieving objectives, and charging the fate meter, but struggle with defeating Sauron’s minions and villains. What this is meant to illustrate is that Tactics cards are generally very good at defeating Sauron’s minions and villains but they struggle with dealing with hazards, achieving objectives, and charging the fate meter. An easy way to visualize this is to picture a line where on the left we have spheres with high strength and low willpower while on the right we have spheres with high willpower but low strength.Īs we can see from the above diagram, the red Tactics sphere is on one extreme, the blue Spirit sphere is on the other extreme, while the purple Leadership and green Lore spheres lie in the middle (with the Leadership sphere being slightly stronger while the Lore sphere has slightly more willpower). The first thing to understand about the spheres of influence is where each one stands in terms of the strength and willpower statistics of its hero and ally cards. Tutorial 4 does give a brief description of each sphere, but to build (and play) a powerful deck, it is important to understand the relationship between the different spheres and how they will factor into your deck’s overall strategy. ![]() These card colours are known in the game as Spheres of Influence. When building a deck (or even just playing the game) you will notice that the cards you have available come in different colours.
